Frank Kern — Results-in-Advance + Core Influence

Positioning: DRM icon, masterclass / coaching launcher, creator of the Mass Control and Core Influence methods. Operator-level teacher of how to actually convert cold traffic on info products.

Core Framework 1: Results-in-Advance (RIA)

The principle: Give the prospect a TASTE of the promised result BEFORE they buy. The most persuasive proof that your method works is the prospect feeling it work on themselves for free.

How RIA shows up in a GTM design

VehicleHow RIA looks
Lead magnetA one-page template they use → and it actually works
WebinarA live exercise during the webinar → they walk away with a completed output
AdA micro-tip that works the moment they try it
Bonus stackAt least ONE bonus should produce a quick-win outcome

The Logic

Most courses sell potential outcomes (“after 12 weeks you’ll be able to…”). RIA sells demonstrated outcomes (“in the next 5 minutes you’ll have…”).

When the prospect experiences the result, their brain completes the sale for you. Resistance drops. They buy because it already works.

The RIA Test

For every asset in the funnel (ad, lead magnet, webinar, bonus), ask: “What is the specific result this piece delivers to the prospect, by itself, for free?”

If the answer is “it educates them” or “it builds awareness” → weak. Must deliver a completed mini-outcome.

Core Framework 2: Core Influence

Kern’s formula for why people follow / buy from specific people:

  1. They believe you can help them get what they want.
  2. They like you.
  3. They trust you.

Missing any of 3 = no sale. You cannot substitute one for another (e.g. being hugely likeable can’t replace them believing you can deliver).

The 3 Levers, mapped

LeverHow to build it in GTM
CapabilityProof elements — case studies, credentials, demonstrated method
LikeabilityTone of voice, stories that reveal personality, polarity (see Brunson)
TrustRisk reversal (guarantee), testimonials, specificity (not hype)

How to Apply in /gtm-design

Step 7 — Bonus Stack (mandatory RIA application):

At LEAST one bonus in the stack must be a Results-in-Advance bonus.

Format:

Bonus [#]: [Name] — Results-in-Advance
Value: HK$[X]
What it is: [Specific deliverable — template / checklist / quick-start guide]
Immediate result: [What the student can DO within 24 hours of receiving it]
Example: "60-min Quick-Win Template — complete your first client outreach DM tonight"

Never position all 5 bonuses as “future content.” One must produce an outcome immediately.

Step 4 — Unique Mechanism proof:

When presenting the Unique Mechanism, include a MICRO-demonstration the prospect can feel. This becomes the webinar’s teaching section and the lead magnet.

Step 8 — Guarantee:

Kern’s approach to guarantee = trust lever. The strongest guarantees are ones where the client has more confidence in the prospect’s success than the prospect does. “Complete these 3 assignments; if you don’t get [specific result], full refund + keep the materials.”

Decision Aid — RIA Check

  • Does at least one bonus deliver a quick-win within 24h of enrollment?
  • Does the lead magnet / webinar give a tangible micro-result?
  • Does the Unique Mechanism have a demo the prospect can feel?
  • Are all 3 Core Influence levers (capability / likeability / trust) present somewhere in the funnel?

When to Reference This File

  • Step 4 — when mechanism feels abstract
  • Step 7 — mandatory for bonus design
  • Step 8 — for guarantee design
  • When the strategy feels like “course-selling” instead of “result-selling”
